I’m not normally the one for exfoliating the lips, it’s an area I tend not to over treat. I do love a good lip scrub that buffs away dead skin to unveil a pair of juicy smackers if I say so myself. I don’t have a ’go-to lip product’ for when my lips are feeling a little neglected, it’s the discovery and excitement of finding a new lip product that has caught my eye amongst the rest. From the simplicity of the good ole’ Vaseline to a high-tech, anti-ageing lip treatments. I’ve discovered a majority of luscious lip products throughout my blogging history, and I don’t have the plan to stop searching for the next big thing!
When lip scrubs became a must-have beauty staple, these delicious, ’sometimes’ edible pots of joy became a craze for lip obsessed lovers. Natural sugars were added to provide a gentle exfoliation that gave an instant ‘sweet tooth feeling’ to the lips. They came in a variety of tasty flavours that took lip care to a whole new dimension. Other brands started to re-create their very own lip scrubbing treatments with the bonus of added ingredients to de-age, plump and hydrate delicate lips.
GLAMGLOW. A brand I’m certain you’re aware of by now in the skincare realms. If you have been following my journey for quite some time now, I have written about the ’Hello Sexy’ brand on several occasions. I don’t plan to stop talking about this revolutionary brand anytime soon.
Let’s discuss the Pout-mud Fizzy Lip Exfoliating Treatment. An upgrade from your regular ’lip scrubs’ on the current market. This is a beautifully rounded, silver pot that contains a concoction of lip plumping, rejuvenating ingredients, promising to enhance the natural lip appearance.
With an enticing blend of Carribean cane sugar, Hawaiian sea salt and hibiscus powder to gently, but thoroughly exfoliate the outer layer of skin. The only source of moisture is our own saliva from keeping our lips protected and hydrated. Did you know our lips also have fewer layers than our actual skin?
There’s also a combination of Cherimoya, an edible fruit-bearing species that contains a healthy amount of lip-loving vitamin c. We also have Guava, a greenish-looking fruit containing natural manganese, helping to absorb key ingredients into the skin.
The list of intriguing fruits from around the world doesn’t stop yet! The tropical wonders of star-fruit are added into the mix for its valuable source of de-ageing Vitamin A. The number one vitamin that’s becoming more and more popular within the skincare industry due to its wrinkle decreasing properties on the skin (and lips!).
Like a similar size of a small apple, Mangosteen is most commonly used for its ability to soothe and moisturise the driest of skin. Antioxidant-packed, this snow-white inside colour fruit contains Xanthones, a chemical compound that shields against future skin issues.
Simply apply onto bare lips and massage with clean fingers for 5-10 seconds. This will allow the product to ‘pre-exfoliate’ before truly activating the scrub with tepid water. It has that typical lip scrubbing texture you all know and love.
I wouldn’t say a ‘crazy amount’ of fizziness happens when adding water to the product, but enough to see a present of the product working. After all, our wish for softer, perfectly primed lips might just be around the corner with this excitable lip scrubbing treatment from GLAMGLOW.
An important tip from myself is to never rush when exfoliating the lips, you want to make sure that you’re applying the littlest pressure to avoid damaging the lip tissue.
GLAMGLOW claims that “A Multi Action Fizzy Exfoliating Treatment to Instantly Renew, Energize, & Smooth the look of Lips.” I originally thought ‘how can a lip treatment energise a pair of lips?’ well, it can, and quite easily. I like to apply this irresistible ‘lip-licking’ scrub on evenings when I have a little more time to focus on completing my current skincare routine, and normally before I hit the sack. I’ve never really been a huge fan of lip scrubs until now as I haven’t felt the need to treat my lips with a gentle exfoliant. I’m so glad to have discovered this latest find.
