all organic, vegan products featured below are samples with no obligation to feature. like it on top filth cleansing oil was purchased by myself.
At the beginning of my blog journey in 2014, I have had the opportunity to experience skincare from all angles. From your usual brands in high-street shops to upcoming, independent brands. I am proud to say that my skin has had a lifetime of indulgence. It sure has been a ‘rollercoaster of a ride’.
In the middle of lockdown, I decided to focus on what ingredients my skin loved, ingredients that worked in harmony with my skin type and needs. Late June, I began a “skin detox”, removing certain skincare ingredients that I knew my skin didn’t agree with. Ingredients such as silicones, SLS detergents and Petroleum. Now, my capsule collection of skincare has greatly reduced to no more 5 to 6 products. Therefore, I truly believe having a small, skincare regimen is the success of a healthy, radiant complexion.
I am excited to share with you 5 organic, vegan skincare brands to greatly consider when looking out for a natural alternative brand to try. These five underrated brands all offer a ‘plant-based approach’. Kinder to you, kinder to the planet. Are you ready to discover your future skincare loves?
Nourish Skincare
Me and Nourish Skincare developed a strong relationship in 2014. The year I decided to began my blog journey. I reached out to Nourish Skincare at that time offering my services. Their now bestseller, the Argan Skin Rescue was one of the very first products I reviewed on my blog. A lavished facial oil created to treat and soothe stressed troubled skin. Now, Nourish London created there first ever facial mist!
Titled ‘Antioxidant Peptide Mist’, this latest innovation from this organic, vegan brand works in three unique ways. 1. You can apply as a skin-quenching primer before makeup with added pollution defence. 2. Refreshes skin during the day, especially when the skin is feeling dry and uncomfortable. 3. Use as an instant hydration boost. After cleansing, over moisturiser or anytime during the day when the skin is feeling parched.
This bi-phase formula has made its home inside my work bag. A couple of refreshing sprays across my face ensures that my skin is receiving around the clock hydration. We have antioxidant Tumeric, Probiotic defence and skin-loving Minerals. Brightening Liquorice Root and hydration from the favourable Hyaluronic Acid. For me, It’s the energising, awakening aroma that makes this facial mist a pleasure to experience. The Antioxidant Peptide Mist is available here.
Laponie of Scandinavia
A brand that hasn’t had much limelight it deserves in the blogosphere. “Our products are combinable for different skin days. Most importantly, use the products you need, when you need them”. CEO and founder, Kristina of Laponie of Scandinavia stated. I fell in love with this 80s inspired Finnish Skincare brand last year after reviewing the cleansers. In short, Plant-based and vegan, Laponie of Scandinavia offers a no-frills, no-nonsense approach formulated for sensitive and problematic skin.
Clarifying Treatment
A new creation from founder Kristina and research and development, Jaana. Completely self-preserving, this inflammation-fighter Clarifying Facial Gel works by purifying troublesome skin. Use sparingly on problem areas. You can also apply over the entire face or mix in with your go-to moisturiser for the ultimate clear skin complexion.
Using minimal, safe and effective ingredients, Kristina and Jaana curated a mineral-rich blend. Copper PCA acts as a powerful astringent, regulating sebum production. Zinc PCA reinforces the skin’s barrier function to normality. Synergies together, both ingredients work in harmony at tackling problematic skin.
Furthermore, we stress-protection, Ectoin was added into the blend for its multitude of skin-restoring benefits. From skin roughness, lack of moisture or sensitivity. This amino acid derivate is one molecule to consider in your skincare routine.
Moreover, the Calming formulation uses Madecassoside from the reparative Centella Asiatica plant. At 1.5%, you can guarantee an instant soothing effect on aggravated skin. A small amount is only needed in the affected area. Overusing this second-skin-like gel will cause the product to pill. Plant-derived Rhamnose desensitises sore, irritated skin from hard water and harsh weather climates.
I prefer to use this as my treatment step straight after cleansing. It provides a comfortable, skin-preparing base for your next step in your skincare routine. Go on, give it go and let me know how you’re getting on over at Instagram: @misterwharff. Both formulas are available here.
Like It On Top Skincare
It wouldn’t feel right for me not to include this black-owned skincare brand. A handmade, organic and vegan brand that focuses on protecting the epidermis of the skin. Refreshingly attractive with the brand’s yellow-coloured theme across their social media platforms. Besides, the use of the lemon emoji gives Like It On Top that edge, a “stand-out moment” from the rest.
I decided to purchase the vegan Filth: Dirt Cleansing Oil from the brand’s website. Created for acne and blemish sufferers. I was intrigued by the brand’s concept of using pure oils to combat misbehaved skin.
Firstly, used as a carrier oil, lightweight Jojoba gently cleanses and moisturises. High in linoleic acid, Grapeseed aids skin blemishes and other minor skin conditions such as dermatitis. Secondly, Pumpkinseed, the ingredient that made me buy this product. Dermatologist-approved, this nutrient-rich ingredient can reduce the appearance of inflammation. In short, I would highly recommend giving this cleansing oil a go. The Filth Cleansing Oil is available here.
Evolve Beauty
Who doesn’t love a bit of Evolve Beauty? Crafted in small batches in the heart of Hertfordshire, Evolve Beauty ensures ultimate freshness and purity in every formulation. 99.6% natural. 21% organic, the award-winning Daily Detox Facial Wash is a prime example of how a foaming cleanser should be created. Non-stripping, gentle and effective!
What’s inside? Firstly, we have Goji Berry. This nutrient-rich super-food withholds a broad-spectrum of antioxidants. Did you know this exotic fruit also soothes and detoxifies a troubled complexion?
Moringa Peptides. This marvellous skin-balancer makes a warming entrance by protecting the skin from pollution. This unsung skincare ingredient also treats surface impurities making this an ideal cleanser for congested, oily skin. In my books, harsh cleansing agents are a big no-no in my skincare regime. They disrupt the skin barrier and cause a multitude of skin problems.
SLS/SLES free, this organic, vegan brand infused coconut derivatives to provide a gentle creamy lather. If you are struggling to find a foaming cleanser that doesn’t strip the life out of your skin, this natural alternative could become your new firm favourite.
Furthermore, you can save a £1 for opting the ‘pump free option’. Do your small contribution by helping towards saving the planet. Discover this must-have a cleansing facial wash here.
SKN-RG Nature + Science
Spa-approved, liquid-plastic free and powered by a government awarded innovative machine for unrivalled results. What more could you ask for?
Did you know, our hard-to-put-down devices might be the answer to why our skin is showing signs of ageing. As a result, blue light is emitted from technology into our pores damaging those precious living skin cells.
Modern times need modern skincare. Co-founders of SKN-RG Nature + Science, Husband and Wife, Deborah & Robert Scott recently developed an exciting hi-tech skincare range. Designed to prevent damaging blue light emitted through everyday technology.
SKN-RG latest product release, The Matrix Booster combines plant retinol alternative Bakuchiol Resin. Cell-boosting, restorative and corrective. Bakuchiol delivers all the benefits of Vitamin A minus the downtime and irritation. Secondly, known as the ‘eternal youth’ ingredient, Semi-precious Amber neutralises toxin-filled free radicals.
Thirdly, in a sustainable form, we have Amaranth Squalane. Oil-like, replenishing and deeply comforting, this natural super-food emollient will turn your skin from dull, rough-looking to smooth and supple. Meanwhile, Diamond Blue Plankton is carefully extracted to provide a natural shield against cell-damaging blue light rays. This special type of plankton offers correction on skin flaws.
A vegan facial booster fit for a king or queen. This smells and works like how a ‘proper’ facial booster should. No short-cutting of product inconsistency found here. I like to apply no more than 2-to-3 drops onto cleansed, slightly dampen skin. For instance. in the evening, I like to really take my time at massaging the product. After all, you want all those clinical-actives to penetrate deep into the layers of the skin. However, if time is limited, mix one or two drops with your favourite moisturiser for an elevated boost of radiance. Meanwhile, enter ‘SKN20’ at checkout to receive 20% this retinol alternative booster, available here.
In conclusion, will you be treating yourself to one of the products mentioned in this post?
