Our ongoing love for vitamin c is no doubt visible across social media. That well-presented flat lay of lotions and potions you see over on Instagram is most likely to contain a cherished vitamin c based product. This brightening ingredient has been making waves in the beauty industry for quite some time, but in recent months it has stumbled upon me that brands are solely creating product lines based on this “glow getter” ingredient.
As beauty addicts, we live and breathe the latest product innovation, we’re usually self-taught on how ingredients affect the skin, and what benefits they provide us. This product I’m about to share with you below has taught me on how to appreciate the wonders of vitamin c in a whole new light.
After falling in love with the C.E.O. moisturiser awhile ago, a deeply-rich, but never greasy hydrating cream that stole my heart from the first application. Now, Sunday Riley perfected yet another facial oil known as the C.E.O. glow oil. A nutritious, cold-pressed, oil that withholds the gold standard formula of vitamin c as the tremendous moisturising cream. Known as THD Ascorbate, this extremely stable, oil soluble form of vitamin c ester clarifies and brightens dull, lack-lustrous skin thereby promoting a more luminous, even-toned complexion. Wouldn’t that be magical.
Unlike the other facial oils Sunday Riley cooked up, Juno, Luna and U.F.O (a personal favourite of mine for destroying blemishes on the spot) this latest innovative oil from Sunday offers a delightful dose of everlasting radiance on the skin, a radiance that would give J.Lo a run for her money so to speak. Having a similar resemblance in weight of oil to Sunday’s ‘spot zapper’ U.F.O Ultra Clarifying Acne Treatment Face Oil, the C.E.O Glow facial oil absorbs beautifully into the skin leaving no heavy residue unlike some heavier oils available on the mass market. In the beauty world, we normally call this a ‘dry oil’, an oil that quickly dries down whilst offering the exact same benefits as an ordinary oil.
What’s inside this bottle of golden delicious! Let’s begin with Golden Turmeric, an ingredient that gives this facial oil an earthy fragrance to remember, a scent that energises the skin with its warm, herbaceous aroma. This is definitely a ‘love it or hate it’ type of scent, which in reality, shouldn’t stop you from exploring into this vitamin c facial oil. The benefits? Golden turmeric is widely known for its calming effects on irritated, surface redness skin. Cranberry seed oil injects the perfect dose of moisture and balance from the omega-rich family, three, six and nine.
Evening primrose, this all-round plant blooms delicate, eye-catching yellow flowers at sunset. This multi-purpose oil targets nearly every skin concern from dryness to ageing skin making this a must-have ingredient. Jojoba oil helps to lock-in moisture, preventing the skin from becoming dry and exposed. Ginger extract is another ingredient you can prominently smell as you unscrew the pipette dropper for the very first time. Ginger is added into the blend to naturally increase collagen production, this widely-used root also reduces skin inflammation. Red raspberry seed oil, an ingredient that I’ve never come across before in the skincare realms. This distinctive, earthy fruit oil is included for its blocking abilities against UVA + UVB sun ray, acting as a broad spectrum UV protectant. Last but not least with have pomegranate seed oil that quite cleverly, neutralises the effects of free radicals, preventing internal skin damage.
Let’s discuss the oil itself, after all, this is why you clicked/or tapped on the link. We’ve just learnt the multitude of lavishing oils that makes this particular facial oil stand out from the crowd, and the dry-skin formulation, but how does the oil feel on the skin? Having used a vitamin c oil in the past that left my skin feeling drier than the Sahara desert, so as you can imagine, I was a little reluctant to apply this facial oil on my skin. Well, how did it feel? Perfectly hydrated and lightly nourished, you might not think this straight away but give the product time to fully sink in and allow the combination of nurturing oils to work with your skin.
True to the products name and description, I did notice an instant glow that prolonged throughout the day, a vibrancy that shouted healthy-looking as I looked closely in the mirror. It would be interesting to discover the long-term benefits of using this facial oil with continuous use, and I’m certain that myself or anyone else who wishes to purchase a bottle won’t be disappointed.
Before I leave you to decide whether this facial oil is for you, here’s three top tips from myself on how you can get the most out of Vitamin C:
- Vitamin C is often referred as the ‘morning vitamin’ because of its skin protecting properties. Simply apply after your favourite cleanser for an extra boost of defence during daylight hours.
- Make sure to apply a stabilised form of vitamin c. Not all derivatives are completely stable and when exposed to outside fresh air, natural light and UV rays, this sunny ingredient breaks down, then oxidises, resulting into a wasted product application. Sunday Riley used THD Aborbate: an exceptionally-stable form of vitamin c that’s able to penetrate quicker into the skin, giving you the promised results.
- The third and final tip! Apply often. Vitamin C may provide you with an instant glow-getting complexion but if you don’t keep this Sunny Delight vitamin in your skincare routine, be prepared to watch your newly radiance fizzle out.
And there you have it, my three top tips!
