Super Facialist: The New Science-Led Grooming Range We Wasn’t Expecting

super facialist product review

Now this was a mighty surprise, Super Facialist creating an excitable grooming collection for the modern man. Continue  reading as I share with you my two personal favourites from the vitamin-enriched assemble.

It’s extremely rare for me to blog about men’s skincare, don’t get me wrong, there are some treasured grooming essentials that stand the test of time, these are a very few that are kept in a special place in my skincare routine. Urban Jack’s Revolutionary Shave Serum is one that I solely rely on to provide the ultimate comfort and protection during the daily task of shaving, It provides the skin with an extra layer of cushioning and grip which many brands fail to deliver.

Something completely unexpected from Super Facialist is the release of an intriguing line of high-tech, vitamin-driven grooming essentials. Based on Vitamin B3 and the well-known ingredient, Hyaluronic Acid, this male-tailored collection from Una Brennan is something to consider when you’re on the look-out for a fresh, new wave of grooming must-haves. Continue reading as I dive into a closer look on what this excitable men’s range from Super Facialist has to offer.

While we’re forever searching for an even-toned, brighter complexion, our heads have been buried over the magnificent vitamin c, an ingredient that ”does exactly what it said on the skin” so to speak. As this sunshine vitamin is receiving all the publicity it deserves, we shouldn’t neglect what other vitamins may have to offer on the table. Vitamin B3, or Niacinamide, a ”dark horse” ingredient that’s slowly making its way back to the spotlight, and within the entire Super Facialist Mens line.

Let’s begin with Super Facialist Vitamin B3 Energising Facial Wash: a vibrant, fresh-clean feeling gel wash that delicately cleanses the skin. Now, admittedly, it sounds and looks nothing luxurious in the grooming sector, but, there is a hint of something different that I can’t quite put my finger on. The formulation is quite remarkable in the sense that this isn’t ”just other gel wash”, the consistency isn’t runny or over-gloopy but sits quite comfortably between the two. Foaming is very minimal which supports the males skin prior to shaving, and the reason being, Super Facialist used natural fatty acids from coconut oil as their main cleansing agent to provide a gentler, comfortable cleansing experience.

Moving down the ingredients list, I stumbled upon magnesium and zinc, both of which are in synthetic PCA form. These two paired up together help to control and minimise the secretion of excess oil. Both ingredients offer an anti-dandruff effect on the skin, so if you’re a dermatitis sufferer like myself, this facial wash would work in your skin’s goodwill. We also have glycolic acid to gently exfoliate the very top surface. Aloe vera juice and coconut water help to retain moisture while injecting an added dose of hydration.

Next up! We have the Super Facialist deep cleansing facial masque that combines the exact key ingredients from the facial wash above but formulated into a supreme clay mask like no other. The difference between this facial mask lies the power of Niacinamide, a water-soluble vitamin that can visibly improve the appearance of enlarged pores, uneven texture to repairing internal issues such as dehydration and volume loss. No word of a lie, my first experience with this facial mask was rather delightful, its thick, dense texture allowed me to take full control of product application by using my trusty facial mask brush from The Body Shop.

Super Facialist added cactus water in the Vitamin B3 collection, used for it’s high-amount of electrolytes to hydrate the skin. Avocado and Shea Butter counteracts the dryness of mineral-rich kaolin clay. As the product began to dry onto the skin, you could feel the tightness, the stronghold of clay pulling away dirt, grime and excess oil from the skin. If you can, try to leave the product on for 10-15 minutes, then, wet fingertips with warm water and massage in circular motions all over the skin, paying extra attention to areas that are more likely prone to imperfections such as forehead, nose and chin (in other words the “t-zone”). This facial mask isn’t something to be taken lightly, with it’s fine, densely creamy texture and overall heavy duty feel makes this a serious, male grooming must-have.
