paid collaboration in parthership with Particle for Men
A straight-forward skincare routine is almost unheard of in this day and age. Brands like to over-complicate things in terms of product application and product use. This can lead the user to further develop unwanted skin irritations. For me, as a workaholic, trying to fit in a ten-step skincare regime is just impossible. I like to keep my skincare routine simple but effective by using no more than 4 products. I like to use products that make a difference, short-term, and long-term.
Long gone are the days when a man would feel out-of-place in a skincare aisle. Remembering my adolescent years, slowly walking my way down the ‘for teenage skin’ section. As a young, teenage boy with blemish-prone skin, I was often stared at from a distance due to my imperfections. People made me feel like an unknown creature that had just entered a store in the hope of finding a solution for troublesome skin.
In the past, if a man decided to take a trip down the health and beauty section for his favourite moisturiser or facial wash, he would have felt embarrassed, judged or looked upon. Male grooming essentials were limited back then, and all that was available for the alpha male was products in distinctive, feminine packaging. For Particle, it was a long-term mission to make skincare for men accepting and accessible.
By formulating three daily grooming essentials that would allow any man to enjoy straight-forward skincare without the need of unnecessary jargon or over-the-top instructions. Particle for Men knew that men were longing for a skincare collection that simply provided the correct toolbox of grooming necessities, that’s when Particle was born.
Particle Foaming Facial Wash | 150ml | $29
From personal experience, I would normally avoid using foaming cleansers, purely because they strip the skin and cause dryness. The Particle for Men Foaming Facial Wash does the exact opposite thanks to a combination of skin-soothing, anti-inflammatory ingredients. This provides the skin with a bed of hydration and comfort for an enjoyable experience. The product itself disburses a striking green colour that’s particularly pleasing to the eye.
Starting with Cinnamon, one ingredient I don’t usually see in a men’s skincare range so this was a nice surprise. Cinnamon extract provides an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin. This famous spice that we all love within those freshly-baked cinnamon rolls acts as a blemish-eliminating agent.
Allantoin, Aloe and Panthenol combined to offer a calming and soothing effect on the skin. Last but not least, we have the incredible Glycolic Acid that we all know and love. This AHA effectively exfoliates and removes the outer layer of dead skin to unveil a fresh, eye-catching complexion. This is a great, thorough morning cleanse for when your regular soap bar just doesn’t cut it in terms of deep cleansing.
Tip #1: Leave the cleanser on for around 1-to-2 minutes to increase the Glycolic effectiveness
Particle Face Mask | 100ml | $39
Who doesn’t enjoy a classic kaolin clay mask every week? I like to incorporate a clay mask in my skincare routine to diminish the weekly build-up of dirt, grime and pollution collected throughout the week. The Face Mask Detoxifier from Particle for Men withholds a selection of skin benefits. A well-formulated mask that will guide your skin to a clearer, less congested appearance. Charcoal, Bentonite and Kaolin Clays work in harmony to draw away excess oil, sweat and bacteria. This discourages the likelihood of a sudden blemish occurring. For me, I was happy to see the appearance of blemish-busting Salicylic Acid on the ingredients list. Similar to how its sister Glycolic works but the structure of Salicylic Acid allows this exfoliant to dive deep into the pores, targeting the root cause of acneic, blemish-prone skin. Glycolic Acid, on the other hand, treats the topmost layers of the skin. Again, Cinnamon is also added into the blend for its ability to kill bad bacteria, promoting a deep, intensive cleanse. For best results, apply a generous layer onto cleansed skin. Make sure to cover the entire face with clean fingers or a brush for an even application.
Tip #2: apply on an individual spot for a targeted spot treatment when an unexpected friend appears.
Particle Face Cream | 50ml | $69
I would like to say that this next product instalment from Particle for Men is the ‘star of the show’, without a doubt. Firstly, the Particle Face Cream offers six beneficial actions in one single pump. For a men’s moisturising cream, I was greatly surprised to see a concoction of well-studied ingredients. Ingredients that are known to provide results. There are also a few unheard ingredients that I was keen to learn and explore. So, what are the ingredients?
It’s extremely refreshing for a male grooming brand to study and combine ingredients that are known to work hard and fast on the skin. Often you would pick-up a men’s moisturiser filled with the basics of ingredients that only provide a temporary effect. With Particle, not only are you receiving an instant, noticeable improvement, but also a long-term benefit from continuous use. To give you an insight on what ingredients Particle For Men added into the 6-in-1 action moisturiser. Here is 5 out of the 12 that may tempt you.
Sym White: a natural, skin lightener that helps to erase the appearance of discolouration from acne and blemishes. This powerful molecule also treats pigmented skin caused by the excess of sun exposure.
Lactic Acid: the gentlest of AHA’s (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) that provides a light exfoliation on the uppermost layers of the skin. Not only did Particle add this ingredient to improve the overall skin texture, but they also knew that Lactic Acid increased natural skin moisture levels.
Coffee Seed Extract: the nation’s favourite go-to drink every morning is widely known for its skincare benefits. Often found within your skincare creams. Little did we know that coffee seed extract increases collagen production, which is the prime reason why our skin appears more plumped and radiant looking when using a coffee-infused skin cream, such as a Particle For Men Moisturiser.
Pentavitin: often found in indulgent shower creams, this super hydrating boosting ingredient acts as a moisture magnet, strengthening and increasing the natural defence mechanism on the skin. With the first initial application of the cream, I soon noticed the difference in how my skin appeared and felt, comforted, hydrated and healthy-looking. Perhaps this ingredient could push hyaluronic acid from the top spot? I think so.
Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate: a new form of Vitamin C that is oil-soluble based, so it easily slips into the skin without hesitation. In the past when using a form of Vitamin C, my skin has taken an instant dislike, so as you naturally would, I was a little concerned when reading the ingredients list that Particle added Vitamin C into the mix. With my surprise, skin welcomed the sunny ingredient with open arms. No irritation, no stinging sensation, my skin adored it.
