Mister Wharff’s Post-Workout Shower Essentials

Mister Wharff’s Post-Workout Shower Essentials.

When it comes to body cleansing, my aim is to use products containing beneficial ingredients from start to finish. Fragrance shower gels, mousses and scrubs are something of a past but don’t get me wrong, we all like to smell a scent that uplifts and invigorates our moods.

When it comes down to a much-needed shower after an intense, sweaty gym session, I like to apply shower washes that contain skin-boosting actives to revive my skin from excess sweating and from coping in a hot, humid environment where air-conditioning is limited. Luxury or not, we all need a decent shower gel that provides us with a deep-cleansing experience. It’s very easy to pick-up a quality body wash along the high-street and with so many available, it can feel like a minefield of different lotions and potions on the never-ending shelves of skincare.

We know minerals play a big part in keeping our skin healthy, that’s a fact. One particular mineral Magnesium is considered to be in the top-five of the most important minerals we should intake on a daily basis to provide a normal body function. Current lifestyles can affect the way our skin looks and feels, and sometimes we need a little bit of help to recuperate the energy and liveliness loss from our skin, this is where mineral-rich skincare comes in.

So here’s a little introduction to three of my must-have shower essentials: body-soothing antidotes powered by minerals to exhilarate and re-charge the skin. Now, as a daily gym-goer I need a product that works as hard as I train, after all, it’s only fair right? Sweating buckets in a muggy gym whilst lifting those dumbbells isn’t something I do for fun and games.

I have been experiencing a lot of shower creams, gels and mousses over the past month or so, and although some may have caught my attention in terms of effectiveness on sweaty, body-odour skin, out of the collection of products tested, not one stood out from the rest, until now.

Shower gels serve a purpose, a purpose to wash away the dirt and grime collected throughout the day. A quick jump in the shower provides you with that much-needed wake-up call to start your day on the right track.

This supercooling, hydrating gel from AL!VE Skincare is a product that I’ve thrown into my gym bag on a regular basis. A gel that foams effortlessly onto the skin once in contact with water. Not only does this product remove every inch of sweat clogged within the pores, it’s also great at washing my hair and scalp too, the added menthol provides a comfortable ice-cooling feel that not only deep cleanses but invigorates hair follicles promoting thicker, healthier-looking hair. It’s also infused with green tea extract that helps to reduce tired, stiff muscles thanks to its anti-inflammatory benefits. Best of yet, it’s only a fiver and with all those beneficial ingredients encapsulated inside, you would be daft not to add this into your shopping basket online.

Continuing on the same path with AL!VE Skincare, we have the soothing body gel lotion. Now, I’m terrible at not moisturizing the body after showering, I just don’t like the feel of anything on my skin, it’s an old habit of mine that needs rectifying before my body turns into snakeskin. This ultra-cooling body gel is a must-have to apply on those hot and sticky Summer mornings after cleansing and and singing away in the shower. Swap this with your regular body moisturiser and feel that instant rush of coolness work on those achy body parts. We also have the wonders of natural sea kelp that offers all-day hydration even on the driest of skins. Arnica, a popular ingredient amongst athletes, this all-natural medicine treats sore, tired muscles from performing your daily ritual activity.

It’s quick and easy to apply with no downtime on waiting for the gel to sink-in. Simply apply onto the problematic areas, for me at the moment it’s my shoulders thats causing the most grief, and applying this directly onto the shoulders works a treat at relieving the muscle soreness and tension. Yet again, you’re spending just a fiver for a product that works wonders on calming down those hard-working muscles.

I’ve become a sucker for multi-purpose products, especially when time is limited, we like to spend that time efficiently by using a product that simply does it all, and I may have found the perfect one.

I like to switch up my body products regularly so my skin doesn’t become too familiar to the formula, it’s always good to play the guessing game with our skin. Wouldn’t you agree? This energizing two-in-one shower gel from the proud-to-be French brand Matis Paris is an exceptional product to say the least. Formulated with a cocktail of copper, Magnesium and zinc, this skin-awakening gel not only cleanses away dirt, grime and sweat from its gentle cleansing base but also simulates those worn-out skin cells to unleash the best skin yet.

The fresh, aquatic scent triggers a blissful moment of ocean breeze and masculinity as you lather onto damp skin. I don’t usually like masculine scents but this is rather pleasant and not overpowering, you could most likely call this a gender-neutral fragrance (isn’t 2019 all about genderless and equity?).

If you’re a fan of fruity scents then these products mentioned might not be for you but sometimes having a change of fragrance could quite possibly bring a whole new experience into your beloved shower routine.

Go on, be a daredevil and treat your body to a beneficial shower wash from the products mentioned aboveWhat shower must-haves are you currently reaching out for? This is a sample feature in partnership with AL!VE Skincare and Matis Paris. All opinions, experiences and words my own.
