I’ve always had a soft spot for Mineral Makeup, I love how it offers a natural but enhanced complexion without looking like you have applied a layer of liquid foundation on the skin. Like myself, not everyone enjoys the coverage of a liquid foundation and many prefer to go down the powder route and feel completely satisfied with the outcome. Founded over 15 years ago by athlete James Greenwell who suffered an accident that involved tearing an Achilles tendon during a pentathlon competition. James starting taking collagen to heal and repair the damage which led him to create his very own beauty, health and skincare brand, Proto-col.
If you’re looking for a moisturizer that offers all the benefits of a hydrating, skin-quenching facial masque then look no further by tapping here.
I first discovered Proto-col during an episode on Ideal World TV here in the UK. I was fascinated by how adding collagen into my diet could benefit myself internally and how using collagen-infused skincare could improve my overall complexion. If you’re keen to learn more about their collagen-injected mineral makeup line then look no further afield. But let me just warn you, it’s pretty incredible…
Modern foundations, including liquids and stick formulas, may provide you with a flawless, glass-like complexion but nothing beats a light touch of powder coverage on days where you desire an almost ‘make-up free’ day. After all, it allows our skin to fully breathe and a mini-break from heavy makeup usage.
Let’s slowly begin with the Baked Mineral Makeup Foundation. An ultra-smooth formula that applies like a dream, and what’s even better, it doesn’t cling onto dry skin areas — which is almost unheard of with powder products. This travel-friendly compact is a must-have for when you’re away from home comforts. Not everyone wants to carry a bottle of liquid foundation in their bag. Thinking realistically, a compact weighs less, offers a quicker application and doesn’t have the potential to spill all over your beloved items. It may not provide the coverage you’d expect or want from a liquid foundation, but give it a go and you never know, it could end up becoming your new favourite item!
My only concern is the colour selection, either Proto-col created just two shades, or other shades are completely out of stock — I’ll keep you informed on this matter. The shade in – Dover – is actually perfect for my skin tone as it offers that right amount of warmth and radiance. I did find myself reaching out for this more than the colour correcting baked foundation as I quite enjoyed having a little sparkle of colour from the foundation. That’s the magic about this particular powder formulation, anyone can wear this without it looking obvious to the public eye, call it the invisible veil!
What ingredients lie within the baked foundation? Green Tea and Rosemary extracts provide antioxidant benefits from outside pollutants whilst Lavender extract calms easily reactive skin.
Colour correction was a thing in 2014, but it was never properly executed until recent years. I’m happy that brands like Protocol are still offering a product that treats and conceals an uneven complexity. This baked formulation consists of a colour combination to counteract unwanted skin discolouration from past or present skin issues. Many like myself prefer powder over liquid, and although the availability of CC creams is almost unmissable on the high-streets, the joys of a classic powder application will still remain in the league.
So, what colour pigment does what?
You could simply use this to give your skin that natural-looking, perfected canvas look. Immaculate skin or not, a little powder will always balance one’s complexion. Similar to how it’s sister, the Baked Foundation is applied. It doesn’t have too look overly fancy or come with a hefty price tag, it purely just has to deliver, and this one does just that.

I’ve never heard of this brand but I am a big fan of mineral makeup! It’s a shame if there are only two shades though x
Oh wow, this sounds right up my street. I much prefer a light coverage. I’ll have to look into this.
