5 British Beauty Brands To Support Right Now (And For The Future!)

paid/unpaid collaboration in support of this review

Supporting British brands at this moment in time is vital. With CONVID—9 attacking every brand left, right and centre, it’s important for us as consumers to realise the fact that our home-turf is much needing our love and support right at this very minute. It doesn’t have to be a big purchase, but every little penny enables a positive change and reaction. We’re all uncertain when this living nightmare will cease and be gone, but one thing I am certain about is that helping + supporting small U.K. businesses (local or not) will not only put a positive smile on their faces but ensures them that people of the United Kingdom are willing to help businesses in need.

british brands

So, without further ado, allow me to introduce you to 5 British brands that will have you looking great and feeling great from the indulging textures. A little self-care is the antidote we all need at this very moment in time, so get ready to splurge on high-performance, ethically sourced skincare from the United Kingdom.

UXB Skincare
A recent, pleasant finding British skincare brand, UXB offers affordable products without compromising on the quality and ingredients. For example, their sulfur + lactic acid at a surprising 10% facial masque is one I urged you to experience, especially if you’re a lover of masking (actually who isn’t?). Sulfur heals and calms skin irritation whilst the all-time beloved ingredient Lactic Acid exfoliates dead skin cells, loosening the bond to reveal a smoother skin appearance. Be prepared to expect quite possibly the thickest almost putty-like density. Although this isn’t the easiest masque to apply, rest assured the soon-to-be hidden complexion will have you feeling impressed! Due to the healing powers of sulfur, I’ve also been applying a small amount onto areas where my dermatitis has worsened due to the Summer heat. This has definitely done the trick at relieving the itchiness and irritation.

ARK Skincare
Last year, a group of us were invited down to Haslemere by the inspiring blogger Hayley Hall to meet the president of ARK Skincare, Tamsin Styles and her hard-working team. Respecting individuals age is something that ARK Skincare does best, catering skincare products with age-specific in mind. A stand-out product for me, the Skin Protector SPF 30 Primer that cleverly acts as a balancing moisturiser, a lightweight sunscreen and a radiant primer, this multitasking cream is applied before your favourite foundation. The rather interesting Hydracire blend which consists of Jojoba, Mimosa and Sunflower oil delivers the skin with an energised, youthful-looking glow. I’ve also thoroughly enjoyed the advanced action plumping lip cream. A rich, creamy serum-like consistency that nourishes the lips and surrounding skin for a truly noticeable difference.

SootheSkin
Love at first application, the latest British brand to create a ripple in the industry is SootheSkin; a natural, honest skincare brand established on an ethical conscience. Yang Pei, the founder of SootheSkin wanted to create a product that treated his daughter’s eczema, having trial + tested many products designed to treat her ongoing skin issue, that unfortunately didn’t work, Yang perfected a rich, luxury-feel cream that contains sea kelp to nourish + calm irritated skin. There’s also extracts of rosehip to brighten one’s complexion thanks to the amount of Vitamin C. Furthermore, the magnificent duo, coconut and jojoba oils protect the skin against free radical damage. Looking for a natural alternative cream that works? Look no further afield. Best of yet, you can also apply the cream onto areas of the body to calm and desensitise irritation.

Nourish Skincare
This much-underrated British brand stems from its passion for minimising toxic and synthetic chemicals, with an end goal to benefit both our skin, and most importantly, the planet. It’s great to see and hear how many of us are respecting the government’s guidelines by simply ensuring our hands are washed for at least 20 seconds whilst singing away happy birthday (well, that’s optional, but I bet you most of you do). So, hands are now crystal clear and squeaky clean, time to slather on a quality hand cream with age-prevention benefits, such as this beautifully lightweight hand lotion from Nourish. Infused with skin-protecting kale, hydrating rose of Jericho and hyaluronic acid to inject much-needed moisture. Ginger improves discolouration from the damaging effects of sun exposure whilst the use of antioxidants and firming peptides offers reparative benefits. You could quite mistake this hand cream as a face moisturiser. I’ve never seen so many active ingredients inside a tub of hand cream. Close to my heart, this was one of the very first brands I reviewed when I started blogging back in 2014

SKN-RG Skincare
I’ve been working alongside SKN-RG since January, and I’ve never looked back since (read my review on the men’s grooming collection here). Their exquisite formulas, unique textures and visible results from each and every product is something you don’t see very often from many brands. The recently launched Diamond Blue Cleanser ticks all of my boxes from what I expect in a well-made cleanser. Hyaluronic-based, this aquatic blue gel thoroughly purifies the skin without upsetting the pH equilibrium. Unlike commercial detergents, SKN-RG used botanical soapberry to gently cleanse but effectively by removing the build-up of dirt, grime and sweat. The house ingredient, diamond blue plankton entraps and releases skin-irritating contaminants. There’s also a combination of pre/probiotics to recalibrate the skin’s microbiome to a healthy state. Don’t expect this product to lather or foam, but expect a healthy, luminous glow appear from within!
